Welcome to the red team blog; Organizational communications project
ResponderEliminarTodays dynamic would be the next one:
Each team member have to answer at least one time to each question, after the four participants have already submitted all the information, questions times to the public would be opened.
Hello class there anyone there?
ResponderEliminarThe idea of having communication within the companies is rather new in the history of human kind.
ResponderEliminarI'm not sure if it is a new idea, but the way in which employees and employers converse is different today than it was let us say 30 years ago...
EliminarCommunication means many different things to many different people. It depends on the subject and how communication is seen and/or used by others.
ResponderEliminarTake for example the owner of a plantation, he was not very open to hear anything of "his" slaves
ResponderEliminarYes, even the way communication flows have change unlike the last decades, new communicational trends, tell us that organizations must adopt a flat organization, because it is easier to the communication to move among the components of the structure, this type of organizations revolutionizesthe old bureaucracy construction
ResponderEliminartell me what you mean by communication trends?
EliminarDuring the years, new ideas and ways of haw people must communicate in order to be more efficient, According to the book strategic communications in business and the profession by Friedrich and Dixon, we can light up the classical theory, humanistic theory, system theory
Eliminarto which of these theories do you ascribe and why?
EliminarHumanistic Theory, even though is not as strict as the system or classical theory, taking account the user of the system might increase the predictability
EliminarNow, for me, communication itself is the ability to understand others and being understood. Meaning, being able to talk, hear and somehow know what the other is saying with his posture and attitudes.
ResponderEliminarFernando, when communicating back with others, what do you do to reinforce what you are trying to get across? In other words, what verbal and/or non-verbal cues to use to get your point across?
EliminarIn my own perspective, organizational communications is a number of components that the organizations sets, establish and use to transmit information for their internal and external
EliminarGive us an example of these components that let us say our class if it were an organization would have to set to trasmit and translate internally and externally.
EliminarWhat I tend to do is being as clear as posible, also I have noticed that I use my hands several times when I am saying something important. But definitely I try to be clear and to the point.
EliminarHave you ever misunderstood someone and translated an idea incorrectly? How did you fix and/or change the direction of the communication?
EliminarIn my opinion we can improve communications by talking directly with the other team members, so that ideas can be expressed perfectly in a way everyone understand what you want to tell
EliminarIÑaki
What if communication becomes an indirect process? How then do you effectively get your point across?
EliminarTranslating ideas, can be consider between and art and a science, factors like words, intonation, and conjugations are vital, but other factor like the environment or the body language can turn the meaning of the message to the opposite way.
Eliminarusing tag questions.
Organizational communication needs more specialized abilities. It means the way the members of a working group gets everything done.
ResponderEliminarLet us turn to one of your questions? What can we do to improve commnications?
ResponderEliminarSeveral things. According to some autors, listening is the first thing in every list. Knowing how to listen to your co-workers is about knowing how are they doing during the day, what is it that is troubling them, also it can be a valuable feedback on how the company operates and what to improve so the employees can feel better in their work-place.

EliminarChoose the right channel of communication according to the moment the event is happening, the channel of communication might go from: face to face interaction, Email, letter, meeting, and public speech.
EliminarUse some tricks as eye to eye contact, touching the back and shoulders to establish more confidence between the speakers
Another thing is having an open door policy. This is very connected to listening.
EliminarIt means that the boss or manager needs to show his/her employees that he is always open to listen to them for things involving the work-place. This usually gets misunderstood with gossips and all that, so boundaries need to be established with this.
Speaking of such Jose and Fernando, where are your teammates, better yet, where are the rest of your classmates? Was there a miscommunication here?
ResponderEliminarIñaki has internet, but is not so good so he cannot access this site, he is in facebook.
EliminarBut we invited everyone to this event on facebook and everyone said yes, so I don't know if they forgot.
yeas Iñaki would answer some questions, via myself, because of the poor internet conexion he has at this time, he is sending me his opinions to my cellpone.
EliminarWhile a cellphone has the ability to relay message it is interesting that it's technology is almost handicapped in a way.
EliminarA manager and/or employee can say and/or address the same issue but what in your minds Jose and Fernando makes the difference in the communcation styles between managers and/or employees?
ResponderEliminarBoth must have the abilities of express them self, but managers must also have the ability to encourage people to find the solution
EliminarIn other words managers should Accomplish work through other people
EliminarJose, where does this level of motivation to encourage others come from?
EliminarJose, who do you set this level of accomplishment... How would a manager address and apply trust through communication?
EliminarMy response to the question is down here.
EliminarManagers must have and “heroic” profile, in other words they must convince people to work for the organization goals, they must be charismatic, compressive and fair
EliminarHeroic huh? What if leader is outgoing but not heroic, how is she or he seen?
EliminarGoals and thrust are vital on organizations, both must be set fairly and
EliminarGoals set the direction, people that integrate the organization must be 100% agree with the goals to give the maximum of productivity, It is job of the leader to convince people of the goals.
Thrust must be encouraged through the values of each member and the values of the organization itself. In other to have a great working environment people must agree with the organizational values
Leaders must figure out to be seen as an example of how to do the things in the best way,
EliminarI think that a manager needs to have the ability to being heard and know how to send the message correctly. The aptitudes of leadership are ideal in this situation. A common employee might not have this kind of communication skills, but that's why internal feedback is needed, so workers can express themselves in the correct channels so that the managers or employers can listen to them.
ResponderEliminarFernando, my question is to you how does that individual who is becoming a leader or who possess leadership qualities communicate? Does he or she have a difference in the means and method of communication if so how and why?
ResponderEliminarA leader is someone with a very good communication skills. I read an online article this days before the blog that, in a regular day, a manager tends to communicate 6 hours in a day at work.
EliminarI'm not saying that every manager is a leader, a lot of managers just don't use the correct tools to communicate with others. For example, they only use the intranet of the office or calls meetings only for important things.
I think that a leader with communication skills needs to use every tool available so the message can get to the employees. Some authors say that being a little repetitive over an important issue is good so the message can be understood, also having face to face meetings with an employee is ideal.
So we are coming to the end of our blogging. One last question what Jose, Fernando and Inaki what is the difference between a boss and a leader?
ResponderEliminarLeaders establish relationships between the people that conforms the organization, the listen, propose, choose and spread the work and encourage a great working environment, in the other hand bosses take decisions, spread the work and wait for results.
EliminarI think the main difference is that a boss is someone that takes the command over a group of people to accomplish the goal. On the other hand a leader is someone that manages the group so everyone can work together to get to the goal.
EliminarNow gentlemen, we've learned a great about communication tonight only if it was technically the 4 of us. So, now I want you to think about what is said, how well it was answered and what could have been done to encourage more participation. As much as you might not feel abliged to participate tomorrow. I would like to see you all (Fernando, Jose, and Inaka) on our facebook blog tomorrow night. Make sure you are friend connected with one of the members of that group. See our current announcement page for all the details.
ResponderEliminarsee you there, tomorrow :)
EliminarThank you gentlemen-speak with you all tomorrow night. I'll need your help in answering questions and preposing new ones:)
ResponderEliminarSigning off

ResponderEliminarWhat means communication on your own perspective?
The way and means to interact with other people
What kind of difficulties have you encountered when trying to communicate?
the diferences between cultures, languages and countries( as spanish is a very extencive laguage, sometimes is very dificult to ubnderstand people from other countries just for the variation in thelanguage).
Do you think people communicate differently in separate parts of the globe? How come?
yes, as they are diferent cultures, there is always diferent ways to comunicate and also variation from the same type of comunication.
What could you do in order to improve communication in your work environment? What steps would you take?
try to develop a good enviroment for comunication, for example a meeting hall, where there should not be distractions that migth dificult the comunication
Do you think managers and personnel in high organizational levels need to have communicational skills? Develop.
Of course, as the heads of corporation or atleast from a team they need to be able to express what is need to be done properly
Do you think that a person with leadership must have also skills of communication?
Yes, as mention before, they need to be able to communicate properly what they think, and what it is need to be done. a leader also need good communications skill as persuasion some times is a skill they need to develop so they can properly manage and control a group in a good way.
What might be the differences between a boss and a leader?
from my point of view, a boss is normally, the principal leader, but been a boss doesn't make it a good leader. A good leader need some qualities and skill that a boss migth not always have them.
